Scott A. Buchanan, M.D.

A graduate of Brown University and Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Buchanan completed his surgical residency, vascular fellowship and cardiothoracic fellowship at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center.

While an undergraduate at Brown, Dr. Buchanan was presented with the A. A. Bennett Award in Biology. Elected to Alpha Omega Alpha in medical school, he has received both the Bigger-Lehman Research Award and the Pharmacia & Upjohn Achievement Award for Excellence in Medicine. Dr. Buchanan also received the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Kindred Teaching Award from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Dr. Buchanan is board-certified in general surgery, vascular surgery and thoracic surgery. His clinical interests include adult cardiac and thoracic aortic surgery and vascular surgery.
